Women Leadership and Governance Programme

  • What are women's rights?
  • What is gender?
  • What is its relevance to the bottom line? To national development?
  • What is gender mainstreaming?
  • What does leadership have to do with it?

Managing Gender in Management and Leadership is among the most challenging tasks for decision –makers and mid-career professionals in contemporary institutional development. Gender equity and equality, as cross cutting issues, affect decision-makers in all sectors and most find themselves at a loss on how to address these at a practical level.

The Women in Leadership and Governance course targets women in management positions and seeks to develop their capacity in applying gender responsiveness and approaches to issues of leadership, management and governance.

This course, offered by The Women’s Trust in collaboration with Africa University through the Institute of Peace Leadership and Governance (IPLG) provides a comprehensive and wide range analysis of the ways in which gendered societal and institutional attitudes and practices impact and influence contemporary management, leadership and governance.

In so doing, it seeks to enhance leadership capacity among leaders and decision - makers at local and national levels by providing them with the tools to manage gender-based diversity and apply gender responsive approaches and practices in their leadership and governance functions.

Former participants of the programme (then the Women In Management Programme) include executives in the private sector, leaders in the development sector, Members of Parliament and senior government officials, across different ministries.
