STINT TOURNAMENT 2007
The inaugural tournament for the SECURICO Tertiary Institutions Netball Tournament (STINT) took place from the 31st of August to the 2nd of September 2007 at the Harare Institutions of Technology, one of the eight tertiary institutions that The Women’s Trust is working with in its Young Women Leadership Development Programme .The first day of the tournament comprised of a one-day Leadership and Empowerment Training session where all the netball players and their patrons from the 8 participating teams were taken through the training session by the Programme Coordinator for the Young Women Leadership Development Programme. The Tertiary Institutions present were Africa University, Chinhoyi University of Technology, Harare Institute of Technology, Marymount Teachers’ College, Midlands State University, Mutare Polytechnic College, Mutare Teachers’ College and the University of Zimbabwe.
These are the overall tournament results for STINT 2007:
Players that had been selected during the games for the National Squads were:
- The Centre player for CUT,
- The GA player for CUT,
- The GS player for Mutare Polytechnic College,
- The GS player for AU,
- Most disciplined team prize, was won by HIT
- The most outstanding player of the tournament was won by the GA from CUT, Nyasha Mhute and she was given a prize money of $5 000 000.00 (a donation that had been made by Bertha Faranisi)
- Third Prize went to UZ
- Second Prize was won by Mutare Polytechnic College
- First Prize winners were CUT
